Use it or lose it? - Signage

Joey, on June 17, 2019 at 08:47 Posted in DIY 0 32

Are you skipping signage to keep things simple for yourself, or do you think having signs (welcome signs, directional signs, etc) will add a touch of style and help guide your guests?

Signage - will you use it or lose it?

Use it! Making our own signs. Three 3'x6' free-standing for Welcome, unplugged ceremony and seating chart. FH is welding the frames from conduit we're getting from a buddy who works in electrical wholesale.

Table top signage for Guestbook, Cards & Gifts, Taco Bar, one in each bathroom, Bar ("Alcohol. Because no good love story ever started with a salad.") Table top signs will just be acrylic ones from Staples ($10 ea), but I'll be painting the edges silver.

Place cards (venue requires it) and menus made from two colours of cardstock. Papercutter and paper folder $40.

Table numbers. FH welding frames, then a flat piece of steel to the front of the frame. Numbers will be printed on clear labels and stuck to the steel.

I'm sure I'll find more ways to add signage. For us, with my graphic design experience and hubby being a welder, we can do this stuff on the cheap.

Skipping... too expensive!! Though I am thinking of making a welcome sign from my leftover engineered hardwood, but finding a cheap easel to place it on is no easy task.

I love graphic arting and DIYing, so probably keeping a small number of signs that serve good purposes and doing them up all pretty. :-)

I'm thinking an unplugged ceremony sign, seating charts, and a single ceremony program/overview sign.

I'm personally skipping ceremony programs and instead, I am upcycling an old frame into a "program" when guests enter the ceremony location.

I'm only using signage for that, and my seating chart.

We’re diying a lot of our wedding decor & plan to make signage that helps tie together our theme. We doing a small sign with a quote on it for our memorial & signing tables, a sign with the program on it (to avoid printed programs) & an unplugged ceremony sign, not sure of any others.

Agreed. I don’t want any signs for something obvious either like those “pick a side” at the ceremony signs. People will know.. lol

    Use it!

We've got two venues right next door to each other so signage will be key so guests don't get confused.
Also thinking of having signage at the bar saying "Drunk In Love" we're Beyonce fans and think it would be so cute

Used it very minimally... mainly just directional. I think signs are a bit overdone lately

Use it. We didn’t have a lot but we did signs to the washrooms since it wasn’t so obvious, and signs inside the reception for guestbook, seating chart, drinks menu

Use it! We had big 3 signs. Pick a seat, unplugged ceremony and guest book. My bridesmaid did them for us so they did not cost us anything.

Use. We'll have a sign telling people to sign our guest puzzle, a seating chart, maybe a welcome sign and maybe an unplugged wedding sign.

We'll have some signage: program sign (mentioned in the ceremony program questions), General welcomed sign, unplugged sign (might incorporate into the program).

We'll also have the guestbook, cards, and favours signs so people will know/remember them.

Lose it. We will all be arriving the day before the wedding and the venue is very small so it's hard to get lost.

There will be a few signs, the welcome sign, and some directional ones. Especially because our venue is so big and holds multiple weddings. It will help guests out

Lose it! Venues or Hotels that have signage are great to know where the event/wedding is being held.
