Elopement Wedding for 15 People
Such a fantastic wedding day! The location was breathtaking. We spent the morning swimming in a nearby lake and were blessed with gorgeous weather, the afternoon ceremony was great (my only complaint ... Read more was the arch - when it said they provided one I assumed it would be decorated. Had I known I would have decorated it myself so it was a bit of a shock/disappointment when I walked down to see just a huge wooden arch with no white cloth or flowers on it), dinner was also great and that evening we went down to the beach with the luminescent plankton. We also loved our room and wish we could have stayed longer !

Wedding of my Dreams!
I couldn't imagine a better wedding than what we experienced at the West Coast Wilderness Lodge. Everything - the venue, the food, the staff and even the fall weather - was absolutely perfect and more ... Read more than we could have asked for. With lots of guests coming from out of town the Lodge was the perfect combination of destination wedding - allowing us to bring everyone together in one place for a few days - while also being close to home and giving us the west coast vibes we wanted. The Friday night barbeque and staying an extra night after the wedding (for an amazing dinner at the lodge) allowed us to really spend time with all our guests which made the weekend so much more meaningful. Planning our wedding was truly effortless - even for a confessed type A personality - as Genevieve answered all our questions in the lead up and truly had EVERYTHING under control from the moment we set foot at the venue. The entire day ran smoothly without us having to think about anything but getting married and guests are still raving about what a great weekend they had. If you're thinking about getting married on the Sunshine Coast - the Lodge is really the only choice.

How to describe the pure magic of our wedding weekend at West Coast Wilderness Lodge? A setting out of pure fantasy met with friendly, professional service and terrific food elevated our experience ... Read more beyond what we planned or could have hoped. Our luck began when the West Coast Wilderness Lodge happened to have a cancellation and a date opened up for us. Before committing, we decided to make the trek up to see the place for ourselves. It was a cold, gray, horribly rainy January day when we got on the Ferry and took the long drive up to the lodge. Along the way, we convinced ourselves that the trip was just too far and whatever awaited us could not be worth asking our families and friends to make the trip. But something else took over when we arrived at the entrance of the lodge. Making our way up the driveway, shrouded with trees, we discovered a hidden jewel. Walking into the main lodge, we were awed by the majesty of the large windows looking out on an epic natural landscape, even in the grey and rain. The warmth and intimacy of the space were palpable and by the time we’d toured the cabins and lower deck we were smitten. Somehow it was grand and deeply intimate at once. Once we were back in the car we didn’t have to say a word to know we were on the same page. This was the place. Over the ensuing months we began making our plans and organizing the various logistics of hosting our wedding at the lodge. Along the way we were fortunate enough to have Genevieve Robichaud as our Lodge liaison. Preternaturally poised, cheerful, and even-keeled, Genevieve made herself available to us anytime we needed to make a panicked call or send an email replete with questions. She took the time to answer, re-answer, and guide us through everything we needed to know. She and the lodge were also great at adapting and accommodating what they offered to help meet the special requests we made for our “non-traditional” wedding ceremony, working to ensure they were giving us the closest version of what we imagined. Finally the weekend arrived. Whatever magic we had experienced on that rainy winter day, was amplified in the crisp early fall sunshine when we arrived. The Lodge staff generously worked with us to make sure we were able to put our particular welcoming touches to the cabins. When our guests arrived, each having made long journeys from all over the United States, we could see in their eyes that where they were had been worth the trip. Without fail, each of our friends and family, staring in wonder at the natural beauty of the mountains and inlets that surround the lodge, confirmed what we’d hoped -our wedding weekend was in paradise! Having ordered the Skookumchuck package, we were treated that first night to a welcome beachside barbecue. We had not had the opportunity to see the beach during our winter visit, which made it a wonderful surprise. The setting was perfect - intimate, informal, and welcoming. The food was abundant and to everyones liking, and the fireside s’mores will be forever memorable. The following morning, several of our guests took the opportunity to go kayaking on the inlets and visit the “neighborhood” seals, while others helped us with decorations or otherwise took time to enjoy the quiet setting and the privacy of the Lodge grounds with friends. We believe the combination of the natural setting and the time to be together over the weekend contributed to making the ceremony that followed pure bliss. With that particularly beautiful BC backdrop, our simple, unconventional ritual was elevated and marked with a specialness that was palpably felt by all who had gathered. The food that followed was exquisite: the varied hors d’oeuvres, one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten, the melt-in-your mouth BC Salmon, and a simple delicious berry desert. The Sunday morning breakfast was a great opportunity to have a final informal moment with all our guests, who were all still reeling from the perfect majesty of the weekend. Genevieve and the Lodge staff deserve special commendation - invisibly tending to all our needs and ensuring things went smoothly from arrival to departure. It’s easy to relay the details of the journey, but far harder to express the incredible high we were on that whole weekend and the week or two that followed. If the language feels effusive, it’s simply because it’s difficult to overstate just how pleased we were with the whole experience. It was as close to a perfect wedding experience as we could have asked for.

Magical, Fairytale Wedding in West Coast Paradise
Our West Coast Wilderness Lodge Recommendation: Our experience of getting married at the West Coast Wilderness Lodge was a delightful, magical experience to be remembered by all of our 100 guests, ... Read more commenting on the beauty of the location and deliciousness of the food. The owners, Paul and Patsy, graciously accommodated our unique, request to get married on a Sunday morning with a dinner-dance the night before at the Adventure Centre. Planning our wedding day was mainly the concern of Genevieve, who met with us frequently, and accommodated as many of our requests as she could. The whole team was very skilled, professional, and easy to work with, even with a bride and groom both nearly 50! The night before our wedding came with thunder, lightening, and rain storms, yet we all had such fun! We easily relocated dinner inside the Adventure centre and then enjoyed dancing till 11pm under sparkling lights on an Afghan rug to live music once the storm passed. With a fire to keep us warm and tables by the water that invited guests to connect, we all enjoyed breath taking views of the ocean as we continued to indulge in delicious culinary delights all evening long. Our wedding day went off without a hitch: the ceremony was set up below the Lodge, which allowed for the wedding party to make a grand entrance from above. The backdrop for taking our vows was the Princess Inlet on that sunny day as musicians were able to amplify there music for all to enjoy, despite being outside. After our morning wedding ceremony, we had brunch on the Lodge’s huge terrace above, easily seating all 100 of us in round tables, each enjoying the spectacular view, which set the gorgeous Princess Inlet backdrop for our head-table. The brunch was our main meal, and it did not disappoint with scrambled eggs, greens, salmon, fruit, and the list goes on. The last aspect to consider is the rooms and restaurant for your guests and wedding party. The rooms have stunning views and are well-appointed. The restaurant serves high-end cuisine, that allowed for us to have a family dinner the night of our wedding with around 30 guests. Overall, we would like to highly recommend the West Coast Wilderness Lodge as a wedding venue. The spectacular natural backdrop, delicious cuisine, and accommodating staff will help create a magical, fairytale wedding experience that will be cherished and remembered by all who are lucky enough to attend.
