The most magical place to say I do!

The Heintzman House is an exquisite venue tucked away in a quaint suburb of Thornhill. It's rich history from the 1800's is as enchanting as the house itself. My husband and I could not have asked nor wanted for a more stunning setting to proclaim and celebrate our love. The colonial style grounds and the elegant vintage interior are classically beautiful and offer a variety of gorgeous backdrops for many a romantic and glamorous shot that will make for stunning keepsakes which will last a lifetime. I never felt more like a Queen with her King than when at this venue. It made our special day all the more magical. The house was perfect and spacious enough for our intimate wedding of 80 guests. The bridal suite is lovely, comfortable and has nice views of the grounds and the solarium below, the space for the bar is good, the kitchen is fully equipped, and the price for the rental cannot be beat!!

Intimate and beautiful venue

Loved the rooms and the intimate feel of the largest room we used for the ceremony. We had amazing sunlight streaming through the window for the morning. We were able to hold the rehearsal the night before and it was just as romantic. They had stringed lights along the arches, and it made it feel so romantic. Full sunlight or not, the hall was just as beautiful.

Highly do not recommend

During Covid, they provided me with temporary staff who was not able to answer many questions, meaning the excellent service other reviewers experienced, unfortunately I did not receive. When I signed my contract with the temporary staff who was assigned to look after this venue, she made lots of promises and gave me answers to a lot of questions. To my horror, I find out 6 months later when a new staff took over, after my deposit was paid, date confirmed, vendors hired, that apparently much of the information I was provided was incorrect.

Apparently the venue had been running at 56-person capacity the entire time during Stage 3 when I booked but the lady never told me, and instead told me the 100 people I planned on seating was fine. I wasn't told until half a year later that the 100 people that they said I could have should have been chopped down to 56 and it INCLUDED VENDORS, and even during Stage 3 of the reopening act. The catering staff, photogapher etc basically took up 10/56 so I am left with only 46 guests. Minus my bridal party and family, I am down to about 10 friends.

I was then told that people were not allowed to drink and eat in the courtyard/backyard as the first lady had originally told me, so that means everyone needed to stay indoors during cocktail hour while the room was being flipped. They then told me people are not allowed to remove their masks when inside the building other than dining hall, meaning no eating or drinking at ALL even if stationary (even water, which I specifically asked was an exception). These were only some of the problems that they brought up to me 6 months later. My second choice venue at this point was already fully booked for the month we wanted and nothing in a comparable price range was available.

I know that people have experienced worser during the pandemic, however I believe the problems that I faced could have been avoided had the staff been better informed. Had they just told me all the restrictions that had been in place since the start of Covid and Stage-3 upfront, I could have had more options in hiring other venues before it was now too late.
I would not wish this experience upon any bride or groom out there; so best wishes to all the newly engaged couples. No bride wants to spend nights and nights trying to find a new venue last minute; and yes, with months left that is last minute. The Heintzman House lady thought that having months was still plenty time; and as per my research and experience, proper venues are fully booked for weddings at least a year in advance.

Beautiful summer venue

We picked the Heintzman House for its value and the ability to provide our own food without demanding we must use a venue's specific catering. We fell in love with the mansion the first time we visited and knew we would get married at the beautiful grounds. The price fit our buget of a small afternoon wedding and included tables, chairs, a full kitchen and bar to use, plus the big beautiful bridal suite and groom's room. We had to draw up a floor plan for the table/chair arrangement and everything was set up accordingly at 9am before we arrived. Note that there is no day-of-coordinator or contact to ask for information so make sure you get all your questions answered beforehand. The greenhouse and the garden flowers are very well taken care of. Everyone loved our venue as it was homey and intimate! Thank you to City of Markham for preserving this amazing home!

Great Experience With First Birthday Party

We celebrated our daughter's first birthday at this venue with our family and friends. We had a great experience with the staff on the day off and before. Venue is beautiful and spacious. You have to arrange almost everything on your own. Our only disappointment is that we weren't allowed to use any of the gorgeous outdoor spaces. That part was a bummer!

We were so happy with this venue choice. It was perfect for our 110 ppl guest list. The house is beautiful and our guests kept commenting on how unique and great the venue was. Everything ran very smoothly thanks to Christine (venue manager) and her recommended caterer. The venue and their recommended vendors also had very competitive pricing so it was also somewhat more affordable than the average Toronto/GTA wedding. that was a plus!

A wonderful place to host a vintage wedding!

Christine is very friendly, professional, and accommodating, and we have nothing bad to say about the experience. If we were to do our wedding again we would definitely pick the Heintzman House!

We held our wedding reception at Heintzman House in July 2014 and couldn't have been more happy with our venue choice. The charm and beauty of this venue is amazing. What also appealed to us about the Heintzman House was the fact that there was a large bridal suite with private bathroom and several sitting rooms that the guests could roam in and explore before or during the reception. Furthermore, the house had beautifully manicured grounds with lots of greenery and colourful flower beds so guests could enjoy getting some fresh air during the reception. Almost every other guest we spoke to made a comment about how great and unique this venue was so we knew people loved it. It was stunning for photos too...I wish we actually allotted more time for photos at the venue. We also really enjoyed dealing with Christine who runs the place. She was always extremely nice and very accommodating in letting us come over to try out decorations or drop off supplies. All in all, picking this reception venue was one of our best wedding planning decisions.

I am so happy that I chose the Heintzman House as my venue! I highly recommend it! I loved having the house to ourselves for the whole day. It made me feel like we were the only people in the world getting married that day! It was very personal and intimate. Our guests absolutely loved the location and spoke very highly of the venue. Another thing that was delightful about the Heintzman House was the beautiful rooms to get ready in! Christine was wonderful to work with!
