Your dress isn’t the only one making a grand entrance on your wedding day! Your bridesmaids also deserve to look amazing up there after standing by you and supporting you throughout the planning process. With so many varying body types to work with, it can be hard to find a happy medium. Read on for tips on how to find the perfect bridesmaid dress.

Come prepared

You should have an idea in mind about what kind of dress you’re looking for when you go shopping. Do you have a color palette in mind you want to stick to? Are you tying the knot outside during the summer meaning short dresses are the only option? Be sure you have those basic questions answered before wandering into a salon. This will make the shopping process smoother for you and your ‘maids.

Be flexible about the style

Chances are you’re working with a lot of girls who are all different heights and have different body types. It’s important to keep everyone’s shape and size in mind when picking out a dress. If you want all of your girls to match, give them a color, fabric, and length to adhere to but let them decide between three different necklines. That way, they can wear something that makes them feel comfortable, but everyone will still look uniform. If you’re not married to the idea of matching ‘maids, give them a color scheme and let them choose their dress! It’s totally okay to ask to see a photo and give approval before they purchase it.

Look for dresses everywhere

Don’t feel like you have to shop specifically at bridal salons. There are plenty of other stores that sell formal attire that can double as bridesmaid dresses. A lot of stores have flexible return policies and some department stores may offer free tailoring so your girls can get the perfect fit. Plus, your friends will likely be able to re-wear it if it’s not specifically a bridesmaid dress.

Think about the cost

Remember that your ‘maids have to foot the bill for their dresses, so it’s important to find out what everyone’s budget is. Depending on where you’re getting hitched they’ll also have to pay for travel and hotel accommodations. Be cost conscious while looking for the perfect wedding party attire.

Accessorize

Jewelry is a great way to take the bridesmaid fashion to the next level, and it also doubles as a great gift. If you have a solid color dress, amp up their look with an eye-catching statement necklace. Looking for something a little more subtle? Buy them a necklace engraved with their initials. They’ll look fabulous standing beside you, and they’ll always have a momento to remember your big day.
